A downloadable tool

ExcellentWriter is supposed to be a tool which lets you organize, write and format your novel inside Excel and in the end lets you use the power of Word to do the finishing touches. Sounds crazy? Is crazy!

What Word alone lacks in this kind of features is provided with this tool. This way you can stay inside the Office family if you like these programs.

Overview:

  • Organize your book, chapters, scenes, drafts, characters, items, locations, arcs, eras, events, notes and your world.
  • Write your complete novel and even format it in Excel.
  • Have multiple drafts per scene, to keep track of your progress.
  • Export single scenes to Word to see them fully formatted or export the whole manuscript at once.
  • Export a scene to Word with direct speech highlighted.
  • Insert comments, footnotes and pictures in your text.
  • Get a better overview with the outline, the plotgrid, the timeline view and the relationship matrix.
  • Generate calenders with custom days, month, seasons, special phases and events.
  • Get ideas from the name generator, which you can extend by yourself. Just add files and folders according to the structure under "NameGenerator".
  • Track your progress.
  • If there will be a new version just import all your data from a previous one with just a few clicks.

If you encounter any bugs, miss a feature or think that something could be done better, please let me know in the comments or ExcellentWriter@proton.me

The notes on the main tab say that the tab "Excellent Writer" starts the program but I cannot find it.

Advice

You can find it in the top menu bar (where it says: File, Home, Insert, Draw, ...) all the way to the right.
